I also had the same company replace the c9560 capacitor in a mid-2010 15.4" Macbook Pro that was suffering from the "infamous" dGPU kernel panic when the laptop switched from using the Intel graphics to nVidia graphics. The laptop repair has a 1 year warranty and has been functioning perfectly so far, even though it's only been a couple of days. The repair was not cheap at $510 but I got the laptop with a 1680x1050 matte screen, 9/10 condition, oem charger, and 8 GB of ram for $65 so I decided have the repair done. Yes, it is the same chip as the original but it is a updated revision and, hopefully, will give me a few more years of service. I found them using google and checked their Facebook reviews. I had the Radeon 6770m gpu replaced in my late 2011 15.4" Macbook Pro by macrepaircanada and I am not associated with them in any way other than as a customer. Long story short, I got a free but overpriced hard drive out of the deal and ended up selling the dead machine (yes, there are people who will buy it).Įdit: There are places you will find on Kijiji that say they will 'fix' the issue for something like $300 but with a very short warranty on the repair (and after watching a video on YouTube of how they might accomplish this), I decided it wasn't worth my time/money. Well actually, there are, on eBay, but you're going to have to shell out a lot of $$ for a new logic board. The main problem is, there are no parts, that's the bottom line. The worst part is, even though they knew about the issue for a long time already, they wouldn't replace the logic board unless your machine actually had the GPU issue (no general recall on the machine). I actually had this problem last year and yes, ridiculous that Apple states that there is a repair program for this issue but since it's "vintage", they can't do anything. I've been to the Apple Store and, unfortunately, the Late 2011 is considered legacy by Apple and they will not do anything for me.
